Giant Ichneumon
Dear Lisa,
This is a Giant Ichneumon in the genus Megarhyssa, probably Megarhyssa macrurus. Because of the long ovipositor which the female uses to lay eggs beneath the bark of deciduous trees infested with wood boring larvae, they are sometimes called Stump Stabbers.
